Lourdés Zamora is a Costa Rican - American actress, screenwriter, and filmmaker based in Astoria, NYC.
Her work explores women’s interior worlds, merging glamour and surrealism to reimagine myth and tragedy through a feminine lens. Through this vision, she has created projects such as Anatomy of a Showgirl, her autobiographical documentary short following a series of performances from her final year as a cabaret diva, and Filing Down, an upcoming psychological body horror that chronicles a woman’s day through the fixation of her perfect acrylic nails.
After training at The Upright Citizens Brigade in comedy writing and performance and acting at The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, Lourdés spent a decade honing her voice in New York’s cabaret and stand-up scene with her cerebral performance style, most notably through her live weekly cabaret hour Nightcap! at Club Cumming. Her acting work spans traditional and experimental theatre, from Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night to the avant-garde production Thread Hell. She is also a trained classical singer.
She is completing her BA in Film Production and Classical Studies, studying Latin, as well as a minor in Theatre at Hunter College. As a classical scholar, Lourdés has a distinct focus on mysticism and ritual lamentation in antiquity.
